Pandolfo had a decorated career as a player, winning two Stanley Cups with the New Jersey Devils, a national championship with the Terriers in 1995 and reaching the Frozen Four in each of his years as a collegiate player. Jay Pandolfo returned to BU as an assistant coach in the 2021-22 season after a run in player development and as an assistant with the Boston Bruins.
